You know that horrible rude awakening when you really want to sleep yet children are being noisy… there is only one consolation to it and that is when they are shouting that it has snowed! So it was this morning…
We went to the Great Wall and all the
times I have walked around York City Walls and equivalently amazing castles and had to imagine the soldiers shooting arrows then hiding behind ramparts and
feeling it wasn’t quite the same were 
forgotten… from now on we visit castles when it is snowing!! The great Wall with snow was the business, you can throw snowballs, duck behind ramparts, climb up fortresses,
launch huge snowballs down steep drops.
It proved three great things about China: one it is immense, playful fun, two it is so controlled ( the general agreement was that the snow was fake… induced on a weekend as precipitation was needed) and three, unfathomable- the toboggan run was closed due to snow.
